The Minnesota Dance Festival is produced annually by BALLET MINNESOTA
First presented in 1988 by Andrew & Cheryl Rist at The St Paul Student Center Theater, this gathering of Dance Artists has evolved into a cherished Annual Festival. Many dance companies and independent choreographers have been presented including: TU Dance, Ragmala Dance Company, Minnesota Dance Theatre, Ballet of The Dolls, James Sewell Ballet, Duluth Ballet, Colorado Ballet, El Ballet Mexicano, Crash Dance Productions, Cheremosh Dance Company, CAAM and many more.
The mission of the Festival is to bring together the wealth of Dance Companies, Dance Artists, Dance Schools, Dance Heritage and Choreographers from around Minnesota allowing the public to witness in one yearly location the amazing diversity of dance forms presented under one umbrella – Dance.
A cornerstone of the Festival has been to present a Classical Ballet each year restaged by Ballet Minnesota. Classics presented include Swan Lake, La Bayadere, Giselle, Don Quixote, Les Sylphides and others.
